Striper Fishing Report for Lake Lanier April 2006

Click picture to ZOOM

Fishing has picked up this month on Lake Lanier due to very warm weather. Overall fishing is good. The fish are coming out of the creeks and moving to the mouth of the creeks the fish should start schooling, which will make it easier to target them. In addition, I have seen some top water action this month. I believe we will start seeing a lot more activity with the warmer water temperatures. The techniques I have had the most luck with recently are as follows: 1) Using flat lines and planerboards early and then switching to down lines after sunrise; 2) Fishing down lines depending on bait depth; and 3) Fishing with gizzard shad and blue back herring. If you are looking for a trophy striper, then now is the time to fish. Tripp Guide Service offers full day and half-day fishing trips. If you would like to schedule a trip, then please contact Mike Tripp at 770-235-7980

Striper Fishing Report for Lake Lanier March 2006.

Fishing has picked up this month on Lake Lanier due to very warm weather and the rain. Overall fishing is good. The bite is picking up and I have been able to catch a few fish each day. I would estimate that we have consistently caught fish ranging from 15 to 24 pounds and lost a few that were bigger. I understand there have also been a few fish in the 30-pound range caught this month as well. In addition, I have seen some top water action this month. A lot of the fish have been holding at approximately 50 feet. I believe we will start seeing a lot more activity with the warmer water temperatures. The techniques I have had the most luck with recently are as follows: 1) Using flat lines early and then switching to down lines after sunrise; 2) Fishing down lines from 30 to 35 feet, depending on bait depth; and 3) Using live trout as bait, however, make sure you have blue back herring as well. I’ve done some tournament fishing this month as well. On March 4, Tripp Team finished 2nd in the NGSC and 3rd in the NSBA tournaments and also won Big Fish in both tournaments with 23.5 pounds. If you are looking for a trophy striper, then now is the time to fish. Tripp Guide Service offers full day and half-day fishing trips.
